Welcome to the archive, with over 3700 deck entries for team riders past and present, from Baker, Deathwish & Shake Junt.
Baker Skateboards was co-founded in 2000 by professional skateboarder, Andrew Reynolds.
"I was on Birdhouse and we had filmed The End, but by that point I had moved up to LA. We had a group of skaters that all came to Huntington Beach and were all around the same age and all kind of trying to make it in skating. Heath Kirchart had started riding for Birdhouse. He bought with him the team manager from Foundation, which was a guy named J Strickland, who if anybody knows about Baker, they know like the original logo and the elephant logo. So once he was part of the picture and he was filming us, we just all would talk about it like "Dude, we should start a brand, that would be sick". He was just kind of like "I can help you guys make it happen" and fully just helped us bring it all together. We couldn't have done it without him."
Erik Ellington was hanging out with the crew whilst riding for Zero Skateboards, along with Jim Greco. Ellington said in a Thrasher interview: "Baker was popping off, it was a great time for me and a huge dream, I'd watched Jamie do it with Zero and I watched it become really successful. And not like I was egotistical about it but I was like that is amazing, you're being able to do your own graphics and film, and put parts together. It was just an exciting thing to me. When J and Andrew approached me about joining, I was like "Yeah I'm in, of course"."
Ellington & Greco left Baker in 2008, to form Deathwish Skateboards. "Right around that time the team was getting so full at Baker, Antwuan was super popular after the video came out, he was gonna have to turn pro at some point soon. Then there was all these people that were kinda like floating out there that were either on the team, or on other companies that we were thinking about putting on Baker at the time. Me and Jim were decided to start Deathwish."
Baker Skateboards and Deathwish Skateboards are both distributed by Baker Boys Distribution, since Baker left Blitz Distribution in 2011. "In 2007 we rented a small studio in Hollywood to make a home for our new sunglasses company Brigada. Once we figured out that we were going to start Deathwish we upgraded to a larger warehouse in the barrios of North Hollywood. Every member of our crew here we've known for years and our goal is to continue to provide our friends with jobs." said Ellington.
Shake Junt started out as the title of a skateboarding video put together by Shane Heyl. Shane said in an interview: That video highlighted some of my close friends at the time that I wanted to kind of push, like if they had this home to give their footage to, maybe this could help them in getting a board sponsor, a shoe sponsor, something like that. As the crew grew bigger, they would hand spray grip tape. Whilst Shane entered rehab, the crew kept Shake Junt alive. When Baker Boys Distribution was getting started, Shane approached Erik, Andrew & Jim - and asked them what they thought about Shake Junt becoming a company, selling grip tape, bolts and bearings. The rest is history.
As a member of a few Facebook collectors pages, I'd always see posts asking questions like "When was this deck released?" "Who did the artwork for this deck?" and so on. I wanted to be able to answer those questions about the companies that I love. So, here we are.
I started the Deathwish Archive in April 2024, but very quickly had a lot of requests to create an archive for Baker. At first I wasn't keen on starting such a huge task, but after getting a grip of myself - I started collating images/catalogs/information to get the ball rolling. I see the archive itself as an ongoing project, which may never be "completed". It can be difficult to find every release, with a good enough photo and/or reliable information. Also, rather than having a number of separate archives for different companies, I decided to create the Baker Boys Archive to merge the two together. In late 2025, I got Shane's blessing to add Shake Junt.
